About us

The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy is an editorially independent publication designed to support pharmacists in this time of change and opportunity. It provides a forum in which readers can share best practice, encouraging networking and a more collaborative approach to working. New products, service developments and political debates are described, and their impact on the provision of safe and effective care is assessed. The journal has an editorial policy that puts the interests of the reader first when planning and developing content.

Hannah_P Editor — Hannah Pike
Hannah Pike is a pharmacist with over seven years’ experience in pharmaceutical publishing. Previous positions include news and features writer on The Pharmaceutical Journal and editor of the Hospital Pharmacist journal. She is committed to helping pharmacists share their work across the profession and to encouraging a collaborative approach to pharmacy education, research and development. Hannah attends pharmaceutical conferences in the UK and abroad to bring readers a comprehensive update on developments in their profession. Hannah is currently on maternity leave.

Acting editor — Shona Kirk
Shona Kirk has worked at BJ Clin Pharm since shortly after its launch in 2009 when she joined as a sub-editor. Shona has a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience from the University of Manchester and a PhD in Neuropharmacology from Queen’s University Belfast. She has also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at King’s College London. After leaving the world of scientific research, Shona worked as a medical writer before joining the BJ Clin Pharm team. Shona is committed to ensuring that pharmacists have a strong voice in a changing NHS.

 Laura_Shapiro

Business manager — Laura Shapiro
Laura Shapiro has over seven years’ experience in events and project management. Her previous positions have included publications business manager and senior project manager at a leading medical communications agency and medical publisher. Laura has a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and Medical Chemistry from the University of Glasgow. Laura is responsible for the commercial side of the journal, the specialist interest group publications and supplements to BJ Clin Pharm.

Sales and marketing assistant/Subscriptions manager — Aimee Phillips
Aimee Phillips is the newest member of the BJ Clin Pharm team, having graduated from Brighton University with a BA (Hons) in English Language Studies. She is often present at the BJ Clin Pharm stand at conferences and is always available to discuss any feedback readers may have. Aimee is also responsible for maintaining readers’ subscription information.

Editorial advisors of The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy comprise pharmacists currently in clinical practice, with firsthand experience of the policy and workforce changes affecting the safe supply of medicines in both primary and secondary care. Geographically located across the UK, advisors include chief pharmacists, specialists in pharmacy practice and leadership, consultant pharmacists and independent prescribers.
